A small-college defensive line started warming up to thirty-minute sludge tracks as a joke. Three seasons later it is the most feared tradition in their conference.

It began with a senior lineman hijacking the locker room speaker and playing a thirty-one minute doom song in full. Nobody turned it off. Somebody asked for it again the next week.
Three seasons later, the defensive line will not take the field without it. Opposing teams have started complaining about the noise coming through the walls.
It is slow enough that you can hear your own heartbeat. Then you go hit somebody.
